Since 1950, the

all-volunteer Montague Fire Department

has been answering emergency calls to help the residents and guests of Montague Township, NJ. We are located in the most northwestern corner of NJ, serving roughly 4000 residents in 50 square miles.

Our members have spent Dial 911countless hours responding, training, planning, and fundraising. Not only do they sacrifice their own time, but their families do as well. Much of our land is State and Federal park property, including High Point State Park. We have two state highways that run through Montague, Rt. 206 and Rt. 23.

Since we are on the PA and NY borders, we often respond mutual aid to help out-of-state Fire Departments; as well as request them when we need assistance. Since 2007, our First Responders have assisted our local first aid squad, the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad with EMS calls.

More volunteers are always welcome, especially if you can respond during the daytime hours while many of our members are at work. We have various types of ways you can be involved; firefighter, fire police, driver, first responder (EMS), and a junior firefighter program. One can perform only one of these tasks, or as many as you wish to do. Please request info from our Contact Us page.

Be sure and visit our Fire Safety page. We enjoy meeting the community, but not for emergencies that can be prevented!

Please visit our calendar to find out about our Open House activities at the firehouse. We look forward to meeting you!
